Winch Design has nurtured its relationships with its trusted suppliers for the last 35 years, and the success of projects found on land, in the air and at sea, is partly down to the expertise, dedication to perfection and understanding of Winch Design's values that our suppliers demonstrate.

Winch Design would like to shine the spotlight on our suppliers, to highlight what they do, why they do it, and how they bring Winch Design dreams to life.

This week we spoke with La Maison Pierre Frey about their beautiful collections and their experiences working on Winch Design projects.

What does Pierre Frey do?

Pierre Frey is a French family business creating high-end fabrics, wall coverings, carpets, rugs, and furniture.

Where are you based?

Our creative studio is in Paris, but our weaving mill is in the North of France and our furniture mill is in Northern Paris. In London, we have a showroom in the Design Center at Chelsea Harbour.

How long have you been working with Winch Design?

We started working with Winch in 1994 when the design team was very small! The project we remember well was a yacht called Sarafsa which was delivered in 2008.

What service do you typically provide Winch Design?

We try to be as inspirational to the designers as possible by presenting them with our new fabric and wallpapers collections twice a year. We provide them with many samples and ideas throughout the year and try to find solutions to their creative briefs. We also work “hand on hand” on wonderful bespoke rug projects.

Describe your relationship with Winch Design

It is a fantastic collaboration - the designers know what to find at Pierre Frey, the level of service they can expect from us and they like to give us a good challenge!

Do you have a favourite Winch Design project?

We really enjoyed helping the interior design team deliver a massive residential project in the South of France with an extremely short lead time during summer 2019!

What sustainable practices do you have in place?

We source our raw materials very carefully, mostly from French and Italian producers, choosing only the best yarns coming from sustainable sources. We manufacture our products in an artisanal way, and they are designed to be durable and last forever.

What are the biggest challenges your company faces?

To continue to reinvent ourselves, to be creative and innovative with every collection, as we have done for the last 85 years.

What’s your favourite aspect of working with Winch Design?

The quality of the projects they do is
unique – every detail counts and the designers are extremely knowledgeable. They're true perfectionists and create the most luxurious interiors for their clients. We really like working with designers who are as passionate as we are about our industry.

What inspires your work and what sets you apart from everyone else?

Passion, enthusiasm, eclecticism, craftsmanship, excellence
